What I offer

I provide Creative Portraiture and Photographic Storytelling services.  It’s one of my favorite things in the world to do.  This includes:

  • Editorial work, for magazines, other publications, and promotional purposes. Some specific examples are in the drop-down under Work.

  • Portraiture, for branding or personal use

And I regularly sell fine art pieces.

The key for any of these pursuits is that you, the client, are thrilled.

My process for creating the kind of portraits you see on this site is important.  I want to get to know my subjects and their personal pursuits, so I always start with that.  I enjoy the discussion, and it helps everybody get comfortable.  I’ll spend time learning about you before I ever pull out a camera.  Then we’ll develop an approach to depict you in creative, memorable ways.  We’ll discuss ideas.  And then we’ll get to work.

My clients often tell me that they feel a sense of closeness that comes through in their images.  As if we’ve really captured them.  My subjects are also often surprised to have enjoyed the shooting process.  It’s a great pleasure for me when a person loves the outcome and is appreciative that we worked together.

Additionally, some clients enjoy creating stories that explore their passions – a visual storytelling about a chosen personal interest, whether it’s an athletic pursuit, a hobby, and of course, their businesses.  We all have our passions, and creating a photographic story focused on a given passion can be really rewarding.  You can see samples in the portfolio section of this site.

If you like my style of imagery we should work together.  Drop me an email or call me and we’ll start talking.  I’m based in Leesburg, VA and travel enthusiastically.

Most people look for three things in a photographer.  A photographic style that works for them.  A relationship that makes the creation process easy and enjoyable.  And a great sense of trust.  I would choose the same criteria.  That said, my work has been sold in galleries in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area, won awards, and been displayed in a variety of books and magazines.  I have three books in circulation: 2 ½ Weeks in Kenya, Captivating California, and Sweet HayaH, Meet the Band, and other books are in the making.

Until we meet, all the best to you and yours,
